City Council elections are held in November of even-numbered years and are consolidated with the statewide general election. The nomination period for candidates running for a City Council seat begins in mid-July and concludes in mid-August. If the item is not on the agenda, the Mayor will call for you to speak during the Joint Public Comment section of the agenda. Speakers are limited to three minutes per item. In compliance with the Brown Act, Council Members will not take any action at council meetings for non-agendized items but may direct staff to contact you at a later date or obtain more information about your concern.
A request for a proclamation must be made in writing to the City Clerk’s Office at least three (3) weeks prior to the date that will be proclaimed or the date the document will be presented. Each request is subject to City approval. Requests may be submitted by simply accessing the Proclamation link, provided on the City Clerk’s webpage, completing the online form and clicking "submit."
